Rediscovering the Dockands

Family Photo in Docklands

It certainly has been a while since I last stepped foot in the Docklands. It was certainly nice to visit it again - this time with a different crowd (my family). The weather was nice albeit a little chilly:looking up into the heavens, I could see the clear blue skies filled with fluffy white cotton clouds floating above us as the sun proudly shine its mightiest onto the streets of Melbourne and in particular among the piers of the Docklands. Seagulls hover mid air as little sparrows and robins hop about the ground in search of food.

Our presence had one sole purpose: Fish & Chips for lunch - not just any fish & chips, but in fact one of Melbourne's best award-winning fish & chips place which was in the Docklands. And truth be told: the Fish Bar in Docklands certainly lives up to its reputation. Don't be fooled by the quaint size, this restaurant certainly lives with the motto that often at times the simplest option is the best option. In terms of decoration and ambiance, restaurant is modest: simple, open-aired and very laid back - customers are able to enjoy their delicious food whilst watching the hustle-bustle of port life. With food, the Fish Bar offers the convenient option of having your fish battered or char grilled (for the health conscious): either one you pick, they both tasted good!

We had the Fisherman's basket: a divine selection of calamari rings, well-seasoned chips, pipping hot potato cakes and crunchy, mouth-watering and savouring Baramundi fish fillet battered to perfection before being drizzled with a pinch of lemon.
For desert, we headed down the pier and came across Limonetta: an italian-gelato store offering fresh, homemade Italian gelatos in assorted flavours. I know, call us insane for buying ice-cream during a chilly day, but hey... we felt like spoiling ourselves a little. It felt like a good day to do it.. hehe... Quite oddly enough though, despite the chilly wind, standing in the sunlight felt very warm...! Gameboy and I had were frantically licking our ice-creams to prevent them for melting all over the place....
