The long awaited movie by renowned director/producer M. Night Shyamalan is finally out. Ms DT and I had had the fortune of catching it last Thursday in the theatres before the official "yahoo" movie rating was released (rating based on reviews made by several movie critics).
Now many people have questioned whether M Night Shyamalan will be able to bring back the game despite the previous two movie "flops" he had produced and directed before, "the Sign" and "the Lady in the Water". Although in my honest opinion "Unbreakable" was a good movie, i still remember it being a bit long and dreary. So... The Happening... is it good?
Together with Mark Wahlbergh and Zoe Deschanel, we discover that the world is coming under attack by an unknown entity. People begin to mysteriously behave differently and the world just stops... is it aliens? no... is it ghosts? no....what IS IT?...
Well overall i thought it was alright , it did fairly well in comparison to his last two movies although i might say that the ending or basic story line of the movie is left in some ambiguity. There were also times during the movie where I caught myself questioning the PLAUSIBILITY of some actions done by the characters... I don't know...seemed a bit ridiculous. However, nevertheless the fear factor is great... not your typical M Night Shyamalan fright-style... this one comes with more shocking scenes. Real EYE-opener! It was quite humorous too, but dear god I have never seen Zoe Deschanel so.... zombied out....
In the end it's not a movie that I would pay to watch again... Just like the latest Indiana Jones movie, I suppose to truly enjoy this movie is not to have any overall expectation of it: neither of the characters, directors or of the story itself. Just watch and learn....
